ORDER OF THE EASTERN STAR IN QUEBEC

There are presently twelve (12) subordinate chapters scattered throughout the Province of Québec.

They are governed by the Grand Chapter of Québec.

The Worthy Grand Matron heads the Grand Chapter for a term of one year and is assisted by the Worthy Grand Patron. Together they select a joint or individual project for their year into which the members may make donations.   The project this year is Suicide Prevention in Québec.  The following are some of the charitable organizations that have been selected over the last several years:

We have a special project unique to the Eastern Star - ESTARL (Eastern Star Training Awards for Religious Leadership). All funds raised in Québec by our local chapters are in its entirety awarded yearly as scholarships to people interested in religious training and Church music. These recipients are recommended by a member or a chapter but need not be a member themselves.  In 2007 five awards were presented for a total of $2,000.00.

PROJECTS:

The projects of General Grand Chapter have been generously supported, especially Cancer Fund and ESTARL (Eastern Star Training Awards for Religious Leadership.)  More recently the chapters gave generously to the Tsunami Relief Fund in Asia through the Canadian Red Cross and also the East Coast Hurricane Relief Fund.  In 2007 our total charitable donations were $12,389.51.
